Trauma Recovery and PTSD

You Don’t Call It Trauma

The word feels too big for what happened to you, and you can name three people who had it worse.

It was years ago. You talked about it, and you assumed that meant it was handled.

Nobody Notices You Leave the Room

Then something ordinary happens. Nothing dramatic.

A tone of voice, or a door closing a certain way.

For a second, you are somewhere else. You come back, act normal, and nobody notices.

You Don’t Have to Tell the Story Again

The fear that they will be walked back through the whole event in detail keeps most people out of therapy. The fear may have kept you out of therapy for years.

You picture leaving the session worse than you arrived. That isn’t how I work.

No Hour Should Cost You the Rest of the Day

We move at a pace you set, in pieces small enough that you stay present rather than flooding.

We spend as much time on settling as on the difficult material. If this is done well, you should be steadier at the end of the hour than you were walking in.

Nothing Fades – It Gets Managed

What people call time healing is usually you becoming a more efficient manager of the same thing.

The managing quietly takes something out of every year you spend doing it.

Book a free 15-minute call and tell me as much or as little as you want.

You will not be asked for details on that call, and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person for the work with you.

You get me directly at (805) 635-2153, and you meet with me by video from anywhere in California.

A 15-Minute Call That Does Not Ask for the Story

Start with 15 Minutes on the Phone

Before you commit to anything, you tell me roughly what is going on. I ask a few questions. Then I tell you honestly what I think, including whether I am the right person for it.

If I am not, I will try to point you toward someone who is, and I would rather do that in fifteen minutes than in six weeks. You are also interviewing me.

We will talk about what is not moving, and what it would take to move it.
